Down Under once again!

After 3 years of commun life and more than 4 years ago (sping 2004) we were packing our life into five (5) suitcases and were heading for Australia and New Zealand. After exploring the Australaisia for almost 2 years, we worked in the US before sadly being often sepearted (we saw each other every 8 weeks) for the following 20 months.

Being mainly based in Japan, Yannick made frequent trips back to Australia where Luc was based with Varekai. Today we are happy to join again on the same show DRALION and once again explore the unexplored regions of Australia and meet great people.

Maybe the world is big, but once you start moving around... it is a small world!

Montreal DIVERSCITE

Oh! Montréal …… after going around the world through many gay friendly cities like Berlin, Madrid, Paris, Sydney, Melbourne, Toronto, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago and New York, you still have one of the best gay outdoor T-Dance party in the world: Diverscite T-Dance.

This is happening on the last Sunday of a week long gay festival called Diverscite held at the end of July. Many gays and lesbians mainly from Toronto and the East coast of America and heteros from Montreal come to celebrate the summer time and the freedom to be gay in a festive environment.

Why we think this is one of the best gay outdoor event?

A - The city of Montréal is on command supporting the event by permitting the closure of few streets for about 3 days. Yes, no cars allowed and redirected to other streets around right in the middle of the city center ! (That being said, it would be so great to have the same support from the city of Sydney for the New Mardi Gras parade on the Saturday and Sunday by closing Oxford street and therefore giving a more human feel to the event).

B- The organisation (Diverscite) is putting on a mega sound system a street of about 250 meters long, 15 meters wide and with all the concessions tents for selling alcohol, drinks, water, etc. There is a main stage for live performance and djs to play from 13h00 to 23h00 including a final act very much oriented towards a mix of an orchestra and a live DJ: very unique. There is also a huge projection covering about the entire width of the street at about 100 meters from the stage to project the image of the DJ`s spinning on front stage.

C- In total there is an average of 5 DJ`s rotating often including one from overseas playing house, progressive house and electro music sets. The setting of the site is enrich that the sunset will be towards the back of the stage offering a great display of natural beauty and lighting. This is a fantastic setting with a great sound system, beautiful lighting and great environment.

From 14h00, the momentum is building and many gays, lesbians and friends are arriving to pack the street with an overall attendance of more than 50,000 persons. The sun is usually shining at his best and everyone comes out like it was the most beautiful day of the year, in fact a freedom day where you can dance under well thought music by brilliant local and international DJ`s (our best moment was when DJ Nicolas Torrerro played in the late hours in 2005). From the shining sun for over 6 hours to the darkness of the night with darker music makes it very special.

Where else can you find this unique environment where all those elements are combined ? We really think that Sydney would be up for that on Oxford Street being closed for two entire days. It would be so great to be able to walk around with such an international crowd wanting to have a good fun instead of having so many drunk people yelling. The bars around would get more money, the gay community would be all centered on the street enjoying the freedom of pedestrian street for once.

Montreal men calling gay Berlin !

Berlin...... la grande, l'intriguante, la froide, l'excitante et ...... la masculine. Nos boys de Montréal, Evens et Daniel, étaient venus nous rejoindre en Belgique pour entre autre s'offrir un ultime week-end de 3 jours à Berlin. Nous étions bien prêts à les accompagner pour notre troisième visite dans cette ville où tout est permis. Tout d'abord, le vol sur Lufthansa était parfait comme on s'attend des allemands: tout est bien planifié, songé et le vol quitte à l'heure précise.

L'appartement de 80m2 loué pour 80 euros la nuit (apartmentinberlin.de) dans le quartier Schoenberg à proximité d'un marché chouette où nous avons pu se procurer de merveilleux pains, fromages, fruits et légumes. était idéal includant tout ce que l'on peut avoir besoin dont un superbe système de son pour notre CD de Victor Calderone (Evolve) et une machine expresso essentiellle pour notre ami Evens qui après ce week-end est sûrement devenu style cuir. Il pourra ainsi se joindre aux discussions de ses amis Eric et Brian. Notons que Brian est devenu Mr Rubber Internatioal lors d'une compétition à Chicago, Bravo Brian ! Serait-ce Evens le prochain Mr Rubber pour l'an prochain ?

Berlin est une ville gay sans pareil avec ses différents quartiers gays, ses divers cafés, bars, boutiques de cuir et latex, sexclubs et des boites de nuit sans pareil. Notre ami Daniel pourra vous en convaincre, parlez-lui du bar où l'on y jouait, pour une soirée spéciale, la musique d'Abba: il était tout ébahi et ne nous portait plus aucune attention.Lors de l'autre soirée: nous sommes sortis au Panaroma Bar et il s'y mélange des gens de différents styles incluant beaucoup touristes britanniques et la musique jouée est de style house et électro sur deux différents étages. Evens pourra certes vous en dire plus long à ce sujet car il était la véritable cible d'une vingtaine d'allemands et de britanniques qui l'abordaient tous du même sujet.

Nous avons eu beaucoup de plaisir et nous avons bien festoyé comme à chaque visite. Une ville sans pareil que nous visiterons sûrment en pleine saison estivale pour profiter de tout son potentiel...... Oh! oui, les mecs sont tellement grands.Si vous voulez des conseils, écrivez-nous.

Lutte Turque - Kirpinar

En 2004 la version Australienne du Footy (Aussie Rules)devenait pour nous l'un des sports les plus sexy après notre arrivée en Australie. Voici que je découvre un autre sport bien agréable aux yeux.

À Edrine en Turquie se déroule depuis 1640 une compétition annuelle de lutte traditionnelle - kirpinar - qui sans le vouloir met en évidence le corps d'hommes enduit d'huile chaude.

Les lutteurs combattent torse nu, portant uniquement une culotte en peau de vache huilée serrée sous les genoux. Ils doivent renverser leur adversaire en passant la main sous la ceinture de celui-ci, puis ils doivent le maintenir tête en bas et jambes en l'air, à la verticale, pendant quelques secondes. Si un des combattants déchire sa culotte, il est éliminé. Les combats se déroulent sur la terre sèche ou l'herbe.

Le vainqueur reçoit un mouton pour prix de sa vaillance.

Airbus A380 - YUL

Lundi l'aéroport PET (Pierre Eliot Trudeau), officiellement codé YUL, accueille en primeur le nouveau Airbus A380. YUL est pour le moment le seul aéroport canadien ayant effectué les changements nécessaires pour accueillir cet avion...

Mais sérieusement, mis à part cet événement promotionnel, est-ce qu'une compagnie aérienne desservant Montréal va vraiment utiliser un A380 pour l'un de ses trajets? Probablement pas avant Toronto ou Vancouver.

Chose certaine, Douane Canada devra ajouter plus de douanier que les quatre habituels pour accueillir les 850 passagers rapidement.

Paris, je t'aime!

Nos amis Daniel et Evens se préparent à visiter le vieux pays. Ils viendront nous rejoindre en Belgique et en Allemagne, mais ils débuteront leur voyage dans LA capitale du monde: Paris.

En 2005, le film Paris, je t'aime cumulait une contribution de 24 cinéastes qui ont chacun fait un court métrage se déroulant à Paris sur le thème de l'amour: l'amour nouveau, l'amour jeune, l'amour gay, l'amour fou... Juste fantastique et ensorcellent. Quais de la Seine, Le Marais, 14e arrondissement, Faubourg St Denis et Les tuileries sont mes courts métrages préférés.

Est-ce que Daniel et Evens trouveront l'amour dans l'un des ces quartiers? :-)

Halloween

Au Japon, les fêtes de l'Halloween et Noël sont fêtées pour leur caractère commercial et de célébration. L'Halloween se veut souvent comme une réflexion des influences au goût du jour. En tant qu'étranger au Japon ces influences et attentions sont certainement différentes qu'en Amérique. J'ai croisé morts vivant, diables, drague queen, mais aussi des ninjas et des écolières en costume (photo). Au Japon, à longueur de semaine les rues sont pleines d'écolière avec leur costume qui serait difficile d'accepter chez nous... la mini jupe.
